The mechanical version of the pump has a different arrangement under the timing covers..

The rear cover is much the same..

The front cover is a bit different and contains two springs and a washer that will jump if the cover is released quickly.

First, remove the metal pipe..

Then carefully remove the two screws and carefully lift the cover away..

Note the small spring with a washer on top of it inside the large spring..

Lift them out.

Further below is this.. It should stay in place.

When reassembling, put the seal in the housing first before replacing the cover..
